In 1967, Bill and his wife Joyce moved to Troutville, where they raised their two daughters and built a life centered around family, faith, and community. Bill worked as a mechanical engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for more than 30 years before retiring in 2001. During retirement, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, woodworking, and beekeeping. A devoted member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, Bill was well known for his willingness to help others and serve his community.
